Alex's First Movie

Some friends of ours decided to go see Pixar's new movie "Up" - it was sort of last minute, so no time to arrange for babysitting. Instead of opting out, we decided to take Alex with us. It was a Monday night at 9:15 p.m., so we figured the theater wouldn't be too crowded. We developed an exit strategy, with Alex and I sitting on the end of the aisle for a quick getaway if needed. As it turns out, Alex did wonderfully - I fed him right before the previews started and he slept peacefully through the entire movie! The movie was really good - it was funny and whimsical but also very touching. I'd recommend it for both kids and grown-ups!

Alex is Two Months!

I turned two months old on the ninth. Mom and dad helped me celebrate (?) by taking me to the doctor's office. It's the same place mom works, so I'll have to get used to going there. First, the nurse put me on the scale. I am up to 9 pounds, 3 ounces, almost double my birth weight! Dr. Haynes came in to see me and told mom and dad that I look great. I'm growing well and doing all the things I should be doing (and then some... like rolling over!). When she was all finished up, the nurse came back in to the room and stuck a needle in my leg! I screamed so hard I ran out of air. Mom said, "Alex, you have to breathe," so I took a deep breath and screamed again! Mom picked me up for a cuddle and dad gave me a kiss on the forehead, which made everything better. I was all smiles by the time we left the office!

Graduation

Graduation with the family

Last Friday was my residency graduation. I've attended the pediatrics residency graduation for the past three years - this time, it was finally my turn! Officially, residency goes through the end of June, so I still have some obligations to fulfill...but...I'm spending the month doing a preceptorship at Mid-Kansas Pediatrics, which is my VERY soon-to-be employer. So basically, I'm spending my remaining time learning the ins and outs of the practice and will be ready to hit the ground running on July 8, my official start date.
