Alex is Four Months!

How did that happen? Wasn't he just born? We had pictures taken this weekend. He had a major meltdown just after this picture was taken - luckily, we got some good shots before that!

Why Babies Shouldn't Watch TV

They enjoy it entirely too much.
I plopped Alex in front of the cartoon channel for a few minutes while I was trying to get something done and walked back into the living room to find him GLUED to the screen. I felt a little sheepish...bad mommy!...TV rots the brain! It did crack me up, however, when he started laughing at a silly song the characters were singing!

Alex's First Trip to the Zoo

We had a GREAT time at the zoo this week. Alex had fun taking in all the sights and we loved watching him as much as watching the animals. This particular chimpanzee was quite taken by him. She spent over half an hour watching him and trying to get his attention. It was probably the most amazing zoo experience I've ever had, including when I worked there in college and got to do cool things like feed the rhinos and pet the hippos.
This tiger probably though Alex looked like a tasty snack. It's a good thing Ray was there to protect us.

We're pretty sure we'll be getting a zoo membership next spring. We are lucky to live in a city with such a fabulous zoo - it's a wonderful place to spend the day, or afternoon, or even just a couple of hours. We can't wait to do it again!

Professor Alex

Okay, I just couldn't resist taking a picture of Alex wearing my glasses. In this picture, he looks SO much like his daddy when he was little! Alex has hit the four month mark and - wow - has he become vocal! My parents came over for dinner the other night, and Alex just had to jump in to the conversation. He really had a lot to say...

Something Special

Courtney with Ethan, Deena with Jackson, and Jenny with Alex.

One of the first people I called when I found out I was expecting was my pregnant friend Deena. Her mom and mine are best friends and were pregnant with us at the same time, so we were very excited to be having our first kids so close together as well. At her baby shower a few months later, our friend Courtney told us her big news! Imagine when we all found out we were expecting boys, whose respective birthdays are March 4th, April 9th, and May 6th! This weekend, we got the boys together for the first time, as Deena and her husband were in town from Nashville. The visit went very well and that night the boys all stayed with their grandmas while we celebrated Deena's husband's 30th birthday. I loved spending time with my good friends - old friends - Deena and I were "friends from the womb" and I met Courtney in 2nd grade when I asked this shy new girl if she could talk. I think I probably talked enough for the both of us, so our friendship has been solid ever since!
